Getting started

A 3-minute tour to get you patched, labeled, and printing.

1. Install and sign in

iPhone: open the TestFlight invite email or link → install TourLabel.
Any browser: go to app.tour-label.com.
On both surfaces, tap Sign in with Apple using the same Apple ID. Everything you do syncs both ways within a few seconds.

2. Start with a sample show

Fresh account? On the Projects screen, tap Load a sample show (web) or Load Sample Project (iOS). You'll get a full Sample Tour: two DigiCo racks, Brown and Red stage boxes, FOH + MON consoles, and 18 patched channels with mics, stands, and routing. It's the fastest way to see how everything fits.

3. Set up the input side — racks, stage boxes, consoles

Left sidebar. Each section has an + Add and a Load preset… button.

Racks: pick a preset (DigiCo, Yamaha, DiGiGrid, …), set a rack number and stage location.
Stage Boxes: Load preset opens the picker — 34 real touring boxes across Whirlwind, CBI, Clair, LINK, ProCo, Hosa. It seeds the stage box AND auto-generates an input strip template (and a returns strip if the box is a combo). Or add manually: name, socket count, returns count, manufacturer, model.
Console Positions: name it (FOH, Monitors, Broadcast, …).
Mic Inventory auto-tallies every mic used across the project.

4. Set up the output side — amps, IEMs, speakers

Same sidebar, three sections below the input entities. Each has Add and Load preset:

Amplifiers — 18 presets across Lab.gruppen, Powersoft, QSC, Crown, Meyer, d&b. Each preset seeds name + channel count.
IEM Packs — 10 presets (Shure PSM, Sennheiser EW, Wisycom, Lectrosonics). Assign a pack number, artist, band member, and frequency.
Speaker Cabinets — 23 presets (L-Acoustics, Meyer, d&b, Clair, JBL). Track position and feed source per cab.

5. The patch grid

Import from Sheet: paste from Excel/Numbers or upload a CSV/XLSX. Headers like MIC/DI, STANDS, SD Rack, Sub Snake, and Ch auto-detect. Compound values like 1.2.3 in the Rack column split into Rack #1 · Slot B · Socket 3.
Add row: channel #, socket, and stage-box channel bump automatically. When a card fills up (usually 8 sockets), the next row rolls to the next slot; when a stage box fills, it rolls to the next box.
Direction column: flag each row as Input (default), Output, Return, or Turnaround. Filter bar at the top narrows the grid to one direction.
Output rows get two extra columns — Source and Destination — for cable-end labels (e.g. "SL Amp 1 CH1" → "SL Main Top").
Columns: Dir · Ch # · Name · Mic · Stand · Stage Box # · Stage Box · Rack · Slot · Socket · Console · Notes (+ Source · Destination when outputs exist).
Double-patch alert: any row sharing Stage Box + channel with another row lights up red so you can catch conflicts before soundcheck.
Bulk delete: tick checkboxes on the left, hit Delete in the red bar. Undo lasts about 8 seconds.
Multiple sheets: tabs at the top. Double-click a tab to rename.
Print / PDF: the Print / PDF button opens a print-ready view. Use your browser's Print dialog and "Save as PDF" for a paper sheet.

6. Design a label template

Templates tab. Pick a tape width (6–36 mm) and choose a Kind:

Rows — the quick preset: add row-shaped placements (full-width, centered, two-column) and TourLabel auto-sizes the label length to fit. Good for standard cable ends.
Canvas — full control. Set a fixed length in mm. Drag fields from the palette onto a scaled label, drop them anywhere, drag to move, use the corner handles to resize. Snap is 0.5 mm. Inspector below the canvas edits exact X, Y, W, H, and point size (X/Y are the field's center). Placements outside the label rectangle light up red. Delete key removes the selected placement.
Strip — one long tape with a repeating cell for each channel on a stage box, amp, IEM rack, or speaker system. Pick a Source (Stage Box sends / returns / turnarounds, Amplifier, IEM Rack, or Speaker System) and cell count auto-fills. Design one cell in the same drag/drop canvas; the strip preview tiles it and pulls each cell's real data from the source. This is how you make stage-box strips, amp channel labels, IEM strips, and speaker cabinet labels.

Available fields depend on the source. Common: Ch #, Name, Mic, Stand, Stage Box, Rack, Slot, Socket, Console, Routing (long/short), Notes. Output-specific: Source, Destination, Cable ID, Amp Name / Channel, Pack # / Artist / Band Member / IEM Model / Frequency, Speaker Name / Position / Model / Feed.

7. Starter presets + your personal library

Templates tab left rail has two special sections at the top:

Starter presets — 7 hand-designed templates you can one-click import: NL4 Shrink, NL8 Shrink, Patch Cable (Small + Standard), Amp Channel Strip, IEM Pack Label, Speaker Cabinet Label.
My Templates — your personal library. Hit Save to library at the top of any template editor to add it. Library entries sync across every device you sign in on. On future projects, click a library template and Import to drop a copy in.

8. Print labels

Printing runs from the iPhone.

Pair a Brother PT-P710BT over Bluetooth from the Printers tab.
Pick a template + a patch sheet or output entity → the app generates a label set.
Works for Row, Canvas, and Strip templates. Canvas prints at exact designed positions; Strip prints one continuous tape with per-cell entity data.
Green dot = already printed. Orange = edited since last print. Grey = never printed.
Tap Print next to any label to send it to tape.

9. Web ↔ iOS sync

Every change pushes automatically. On iPhone, the small dot at the top-right of Projects shows sync status. On the web, edits appear within a couple of seconds. Sign out and back in doesn't lose anything — your data lives on the server tied to your Apple ID.

10. Feedback + support

Send Feedback in the Account tab pre-fills your build number and device info — mail goes to feedback@tour-label.com.
Delete Account in the Account tab removes everything permanently, no email required.

Known limits (beta)

Web-only: canvas + strip template designer, entity preset pickers, bulk delete, PDF print, CSV/XLSX upload, mic inventory readout, output entity management. iOS renders + prints every template kind — it just doesn't have an on-device designer yet.
iPhone-only: Bluetooth label printing to the Brother PT-P710BT.
NL4/NL8 shrink templates use existing patch-row fields for the pin lines (static-text placements come in a follow-up).
Multi-user sharing is view-only — real-time collaboration is coming.
